Spinnerbait Bass in Halls Mill Creek
March 24, 2012
Teamed up with Zack yesterday for some good ole Bass fishing on the Dog River home turf. The weather was fabulous and the fish were biting. Who could ask for anything more on the water?
We put in around 9am at Schwartz launch and headed to some producing spots in Rattlesnake Bayou. There we caught a couple small ones, but not much action. I've been on a spinnerbait kick here of late, so asked Zack to lead us to some grassy/paddy waters.
This took us into Halls Mill Creek, where the water was slightly less stained and lilly pads scattered the banks at every turn. Not too long after arriving, I caught a 2.4lb chunker pulling a spinnerbait through open spots in the pads. Zack hooked up with a couple nice ones as well, on a spinner and a t-rigged lizard.
The bite slowly turned off after high tide and we buzzed up to North Dog River where we caught a few small ones, and one 14 incher on a plastic craw. By this point, suntan-lotion-less, we were burnt to a crisp so we headed back to take out around 5pm. A great day of bass fishing!
